Cobb Island Playground

A small but unique area, Cobb Island offers slides, swings and climbers. Built under a canopy of pine trees, ample shade. 

Gilbert Run Park
13140 Charles Street  (Charlotte Hall)
Hiking and nature trails, picnic areas, pavilions and playground areas. Nature Center with a 150-gallon aquarium. Fishing supplies, licenses, boat rentals and concessions are available. **Entrance fee weekends and holidays

Laurel Springs Regional Park
5940 Radio Station Road (La Plata)
Laurel Springs is home to the County’s largest and most popular playground. Multiple climbers, slides, ladders and swings provides hours of fun for the family. Picnic facilities, water and restrooms are available. 

Oak Ridge Park
13675 Oaks Road (Hughesville)
Equestrian trails and show rings available first come, first served, unless there are scheduled events. Playground and picnic pavilion available.

Pisgah Park
 (Macaroni Kid's 1st Geocache Location)

Two play areas focus on creative play for ages 2-5 and 5-12. Pisgah also features a nature-inspired play-trail that combines play and nature interpretation. Children can explore themed play pockets spaced along our .75 mile paved trail. Restrooms, benches and water fountains are available. **Pisgah is perfect for a family bike ride on the paved path that circles the play area that all families can enjoy.

Smallwood State Park
2750 Sweden Point Rd, Marbury
It includes a restored plantation home, Smallwood's Retreat, home of General William Smallwood, Nature Center and recycled playground fun (near campsite and museum). 

Southern Park
15885 Wilson Road (Newburg)
Set against the gorgeous backdrop of Neale Sound and the Potomac River, this small playground provides activities for the entire family. The shaded play equipment is complemented by picnic facilities, fishing pier, tennis courts and adjacent ball fields. 

White Plains Regional Park
1015 St. Charles Parkway (White Plains)
This wooded park has multiple swings, climbers and slides that promise hours of fun. Site also includes benches, restrooms, water fountains and ample parking.

Will Memorial Park
500 St. Mary's Avenue
Small playground close to Walter J Mitchell Elementary School. Great for a quick trip to the playground. No shade to cover playground, but a basketball court, field and porta potty is available for use.

Chapel Point State Park
8855 Chapel Point Road Port Tobacco, MD 
Small sand "beach", exploring fun for the family! High tide there is almost no beach. This area has a small sand launch area that is suitable for the launch of small john-boats, canoes and kayaks, and personal watercraft. Whether you are interested in camping, fishing, hunting, or hiking, Chapel Point State Park has something for you! 

Mallows Bay Park
1440 Wilson Landing Road, Nanjemoy, MD 20662
Wildlife viewing areas, small boating access to the Potomac River, kayak launch, fishing and hiking trail. Paddle through the WWI Ghost Fleet, the largest ship graveyard in the Northern Hemisphere.

Maxwell Hall Park
6680 Maxwell Hall Drive, Hughesville
All 14.2 miles of trails at Maxwell Hall are open to hikers, equestrians and nature enthusiasts. Hiker parking is available at the Equestrian Area entrance as well as a separate parking area on Teagues Point Road.** 
Maxwell Hall Park is a membership only facility for equestrians, $25 yearly fee. Hikers may use trails free of charge.

Myrtle Grove Wildlife Management Area
5625 Myrtle Grove Road
Hike, hunting, shooting range, and explore this wetland full of nature. 
 
23-acre lake, a 10-acre pond, two green-tree reservoirs, and numerous streams. Be aware of open hunting seasons and visit accordingly. 

Thomas Stone National Site
6655 Rose Hill Road

Thomas Stone was a Signer of the Declaration of Independence! Tours of Haberdeventure, Thomas Stone's home, are available until 3:00 pm. Tours last approximately 30 minutes. Experience the park at your own pace across the park grounds of farm buildings. The Visitor Center features exhibits, orientation film, sales area, picnic tables and restrooms. Admission to the park is free. ** Close to Rose Hill, home of the confederate female spy Olivia FloydGustavus Richard Brown the lifelong friend of George Washington and said to be the physician present at his death.

Turkey Hill Park
9430 Turkey Hill Road, La Plata, MD 20646
Facilities include an off-leash enclosed dog park, four soccer fields, one football field, and a multi-purpose area for informal recreation activities. A half-mile oval roadway for walkers/runners and two picnic pavilions are also available.

Indian Head Rail Trail
10390 Theodore Green Blvd (White Plains)13 mile bike trail. Cyclists, hikers and nature enthusiasts will experience the surroundings of mature forests, natural wetlands and occasional farmland. 

Purse State Park
2750 Sweden Point Road, Marbury, MD 20658
It is located on the freshwater-tidal Potomac River along Wades Bay. The undeveloped park features hunting, fishing, hiking, bird watching, and fossil hunting. **An "off the beaten path type" of hike, but worth it once at the water.  Not stroller friendly and bring your bug spray.

Friendship Farm Park
4705 Friendship Landing Road, Nanjemoy, MD 20662
A variety of passive recreational activities, such as hiking, fishing and kayaking. Limited shoreline and pier fishing is available. Maryland DNR has designated this small section of the park as a free fishing area – anglers are not required to possess a fishing license.
