Seeing Sunflower Fields was in my Summer Top Spots article on my "Bucket List" this year. I thought I was going to have to drive 2 hrs north, but thanks to a friend who read that article I will not have to drive that far! Because this Sunflower Maze is located right in Southern Maryland, in Chaptico!
Ladybugs Alive's sunflower maze is just in their second year and I cannot wait to visit! This weekend is the opening weekend, and it's also the peak bloom! Special event this Friday night- July 15th, Lightening Bug Blitz is happening 4pm -9:30 pm. (coupon valid for this event)

Contacting the owner, he assured me that it is stroller friendly and you might even see rabbits and more in the maze. The main attraction is actually the insect scavenger hunt, you get your list and go on the hunt! Enjoying the sunflowers all around you is an added bonus!
The maze just walking through takes about 45 minutes, but there is 1 short cut if you need to get out early. Bees will be all around, so if you have an allergy please beware and prepared. The maze will be open for 4-8 weeks, all depends on the weather. Hot and dry = 4 weeks, cool and damp = 8 weeks.

This is a nice, un-shaded playground close by that has 1 shaded pavilion for you to enjoy lunch. Kids can enjoy swings, playground and a rock-wall. Bathrooms on site as well. The SOMD BMX track is also there, along with a few geocaches!
