Veterans Day-A public holiday held on the anniversary of the end of World War I (November 11) to honor US veterans and victims of all wars. It replaced Armistice Day in 1954.
National Veterans Day Ceremony
The Veterans Day National Ceremony is held each year on November 11th at Arlington National Cemetery . The ceremony commences precisely at 11:00 a.m. with a wreath laying at the Tomb of the Unknowns and continues inside the Memorial Amphitheater with a parade of colors by veterans' organizations and remarks from dignitaries. The ceremony is intended to honor and thank all who served in the United States Armed Forces.

Veterans Day Memorial Service- to be held promptly at 11:00 a.m. at the Maryland Veterans Museum, Patriot Park, 11000 Crain Hwy Newburg, MD. The event is hosted by the Southern Charles County Memorial VFW Post 10081 & Auxiliary. The public is invited to attend and tour the museum and enjoy refreshments following the ceremony.

Come and learn about the contributions of Maryland’s veterans through the ages as well as Solomons Island’s unique contribution to America’s Second World War efforts. Family friendly activities will be continuing all day and will include letter writing by children for veteran organizations and yellow ribbons for current service members. Museum admission is free for veterans, active military and their families.
