Calling all homeschool families!...
Actually, this can benefit any one of any age who lives in the county!
Are you looking for something to keep your child (or perhaps yourself?) engaged this winter and off of the devices? Consider signing up the the 2023 Wintercon! This is a winter learning challenge hosted by the Charles County Public Library where kids off all ages (adults this includes us too!) can earn prizes for reading and completing challenges.
The theme for this month's library activities is based on superheroes, comic characters, and our favorite character! Check out our EVENTS CALENDAR for details on fun scavenger hunts!
I am planning on signing up my boys and myself!
Interested in finding out more? Here is what the Charles County Public Library posted on their website:
"The Charles County Public Library’s 2023 Winter Learning Challenge runs from December 1st through December 31st.
How the challenge works: Earn Points. Collect Badges. Win Prizes.
Register online through Beanstack or visit any CCPL branch to register for the 2023 Winter Learning Challenge. Once registered, children who participate will receive a charm bracelet and a charm that they can add to after they achieve milestones through the Beanstack challenge via earned badges. For each badge earned, children get to select a new charm. Teens and adults will receive a special bookmark upon registration. All registration prizes are limited and available while supplies last.
Participants earn badges by logging reading minutes, completing tasks under the activity badges (attending events, answering questions, and learning about incredible library resources), and by earning points through completing the tasks and logging minutes read (point badges will be applied once 25, 50, 75 and 100 points are earned).
To complete the Winter Learning Challenge, readers must earn 100 points. Readers do not have to earn all of the badges in order to complete the Winter Learning Challenge.
For complete information on the Winter Learning Challenge and to register, please visit Beanstack."
